quick engine running question

So please go easy on me i know i could search but, im sure someone will be all over this

background, recently acquired a E92 as a project car, bought for around half market value, no log books and a little tatty.

so im working my way through it

223500 KM Black. so running without A/C at around 80KMPH, or about 50mph

so today was 31.5 degrees Ci and im getting an indicated 90 degrees C on the oil temp gauge.

running torque lite (APP) im reading around 79-82 degrees C coolant temp while running at 80KMPH

at idle the temp will go to 88-90. after sitting for a few minutes engine off once started the temp will go to 100 C but drop quickly once running

at idle its pulling 25.137 in/Hg

tell me how does this all sound, oh for me it seems to be running sweetly pulls strong, guess i should add its a 323i so a n52n25

thanks

The N52 has numerous cooling maps it switches from dependent on engine load and ambient conditions.

Even though your post was a bit difficult to follow because of all the jumping around I think what you are asking is if your temps sound normal.

Yes they all sound normal, if a little lowish.

Normally the car should target about 100C coolant temps, with the thermostat closing to prevent the engine from running too cool. Running too cool actually makes your car burn more fuel vs running hotter as a hotter engine is more efficient. Its actually good to know that your car's cooling system are much more efficient than cars usually need

Oil temps targets are normally in the range of 100C to 120C. Oils temps should be higher than coolant temps. It is possible your car is targeting a lower temp due to high outside temps, but I wouldn't be too concerned about temps here.

yep thanks, funny when i later read my post back i thought the same, top marks for sifting through it, and thank for you response.

today i got my Bilstein rear shocks in, and wow what a difference in ride quality, everything i do just makes this car so much more enjoyable to drive.

next job is a new key and fob, then back into minor body work repairs .

minor oil leak can wait for awhile

oh and get rid of the run flat tyres is also high on the list of to-do,s
