Michelin Brake Dust Repellent

Has anyone tried this?

The cleaner also looks good. Acid free, so the FAQ's say.

I've tried the tire shine... not impressed. Doesn't last long at all.

I've used the cleaner and the shine and like both. The cleaner is very mild so not good for filthy wheels. The tire shine is not very glossy/shiny so if you like shine look elsewhere. I personally like the look it gives and two coats will last about 3 weeks. Have not tried the dust repellant but I would rather use a sealant (synthetic wax). I use Mothers FX synwax or Collinite 845 for the wheels and they clean up with soap and water.

I tried Collinite 845 on them but I really did not find a difference in cleaning. Don't know why.

If you use wheel cleaner it will clean the Collinite right off. Also, make sure you let the wax dry thoroughly before removing. This MIGHT help.

PB Wheel sealent really makes a difference, but using a wheel cleaner afterwards would most likely remove it or anything else (considering how strong those cleaners are). So after you put on any sealant or wax, don't use wheel cleaner, just soap and water to clean the wheels.

Clay will get really dirty wheels clean again... Works great also, but again it will remove any sealents or waxes on the wheels.

I tried this stuff on our Honda Minivan as the guinea pig. No noticeable difference in brake dust accumulation. No noticeable difference in ease of cleaning either. I'm gonna try it again, but at this point, I think it is a waste.

actually guys, this stuff is really amazing. After washing and cleaning my 162's, it would take about 4 days before the wheels looked horrible from brake dust. After using two coats of the brake dust repellent, the wheels actually took over a week to gather the same amount of dust on them. Then when they are dirty, most of the brake dust can be simply washed off or cleaned up easily with a dry towel!!! Trust me, this stuff works great. Just a tip while applying though, use a small paper napkin while wiping the wheels after spraying them so that the wheels stay wet, and not absorbed by the big towel, etc. I use this on all my cars , as well are the hard to clean motorcycle wheels

What I find, is that brake dust and other debris are easier to remove after the application of the Michelin spray. That's worth it me.

I tired the Michelin stuff - it works ok, doesn't repel a lot of dust but does make cleaning later a bit easier. I just found it doesn't last long. I tend to reach for poorboys wheel sealant; it's got a higher melting temp and seems to last a bit longer, so I find it's worth the extra few bucks. You also get more applications out of it.

Upon the recommendation of the forum, I picked up a can of this stuff...$8.99 @ National Auto Stores. Only PA locations though...sorry. For the fellow Keystone staters, heres a link of the locations...

I started using this last week, full week of braking...this stuff works pretty good. I would say an average amount of brake dust accumulated on the wheel. I also purchased Black Magic tire and wheel cleaner which broke down all the dust on the wheel/tire pretty quickly, hosed it off, the cleaned in between the spokes with a brush. I would recommend it.
