Thanks I’d consider an EV for an about town commuter for my wife but for a performance car I’d have to say it’s “probably” not going to happen.

I’m retiring in a few years and the current infrastructure won’t support all the long road trips to various places (and tracks) I’m planning across Canada and the US. I’ve built and raced cars since ‘94 and just can’t wrap my head around an all electric performance car. The mechanical noises, exhaust sounds, smells, are just key to the experience.

Based on the new M5 hybrids weight, just saying it will continue to have a combustion engine doesn't mean I have any interest in it. Never imagined an ICE sports sedan could make the Model S the lightweight choice.

If it was a performance hybrid, it did 0 to 60 in 2 seconds and you could fire up the fire breathing dragon as soon as she pulled out of the city that did not want you driving within it because of tailpipe admissions being a concern you’d probably love it so never say never it doesn’t have to be a full electric car. Think McLaren P1… ❕

I can definitely see some overlap when the M2 xDrive launches. There's been rumors for quite some time that M4 (and M8 coupe) might be replaced in the future by one GT-sized car, thinking M6-like. Who knows...

This! And with a manual transmission. I’m totally for hybrid cars. Seems like we skipped right over them and soon there won’t be cars at all, but the unmanned electric bus thing that drives down your block and you just get on it without even realizing your surroundings because your head is hung down staring at the device in your hand that’s getting closer and closer to being inside your head. The experience will be lost. Save the ICE manuals !!

M this M that…Too many M badges on everything. Keep true “M” cars with ICE and manuals. Slap as many “W” badges as you want on your watts powered smartcars, but leave us petrol heads enjoy what we like and don’t bend over backwards for the WEF globalists. That’s what we are paying you for BMW.

I won’t believe any of this shit until they are able to be ordered.

I hope that BMW ditches the M4 and makes the M3 a beefed up B58 mild hybrid. That will make my decision to keep My 22 M4 a good one. Why would I trade down?

Hopefully with lightweight solid state batteries.

Love how the m3 and m4 continue to get updates while the m8 just dies a painful slow death 😂

Agreed. I plan to give the G90 a shot and plan to do the same with the first EV M3 variant. I want to see with all the regulations and restrictions what the driving experience of these machines will be like.

My heavily modded F87 is my forever car and I’m looking to give the future a fair chance of embracing the experience that our grand grand kids will make fun of us for operating these death machines 🙂

Agreed…

I am an early adapter and I have had six electric cars in 11 years. The latest is no exception and is amazing and they just keep getting better and better and better just like cell phones do.

Effectively It’s a cell phone on wheels and the minute the screen gets better…The functionality gets better…The processor gets quicker and the batteries are performing better…. It’s logical to upgrade.
