Need help with injector circuit codes
I have had my 2007 335i for a couple months now. It has ran great until yesterday. I was driving down the highway and got the half engine light and reduced power. Was worried so I pulled into a parking lot and noticed it was running really rough. I headed toward the closest auto parts store to have the codes read and it went into limp mode 4 times before I could get there.
There were 15 codes all pertaining to the cylinders 1-3; misfires, fuel injector circuits, oxygen sensors... Anyway, I got the car home, I rented a code scanner and cleared the codes. Started up fine, took off down the road, about a half mile from house, half engine light comes on, reduced power. Check codes and get these four codes: P0201 - Cyl 1 Injector A circuit P0202 - Cyl 2 Injector A circuit P0203 - Cyl 3 Injector A circuit P0140 - O2 Sensor Circuit No Activity Detected Bank 1 Sensor 2 I have looked around and can't find any obvious things like cracked intake hoses or broken wires. Even looked at O2 sensors under car to check wires going to them. Anyone have some advise as to what to look for? I have looked all over this forum and haven't seen any similar issues. |

I'm sure that is true. However, I don't have access to those at this point. This is my daily driver. Just trying to utilize the resources available to me to get it back on the road.

I happen to work for an electronics manufacturer so I brought DME in for one of the Electrical Engineers to look at. He says the mosfets all test good. I was really hoping they were bad but they weren't. Any suggestions on what to look for next?
I have ordered an INPA but it won't be here till Monday. |

If the BMW code is 30BA or 30BB, that's the transistor failure in the DME.
If it is something else, then I'd check wires and connectors. Did the car have a piggyback in the past or currently? Could be a bad pin or damaged wire. Also check all engine, DME, and sensor grounds. Brown is ground on BMWs.

Thanks for the information. I wil definitely check the ground connections.
There is no piggy back. This car is 100% stock. Previous owner always had it serviced at dealer. So the issue, I am assuming, is new. Just for informational purposes, my EE colleagues looked at the board under one of our inspection microscopes at work and saw several solder joints that looked suspect, so he did lots of touch-up. I took the DME home, put it in the car, hooked battery back up and drove it all night without any problems. Not sure if what he did fixed the problem or if it was the fact that it was unhooked from the car. Any way, I'm not confident the issue is fixed but at least it's running fine for now. |

So my issue has popped up again...
I am getting these five codes - 29F3 Fuel pressure sensor, electric 2E30 Injection valve Cyl 1 input signal 2E31 Injection valve Cyl 2 input signal 2E32 Injection valve Cyl 3 input signal 2C77 Lambda probe after cat conv signal full load I have seen many posts about the 29F3 code and replacing the fuel pressure sensor. My question to anyone is - will the fuel pressure sensor cause the injectors to quit working? And why is it only affecting the bank 1 injectors? Anyone have suggestions as to what is going on with this car? I hate to start throwing money at it without a good starting point. Thanks in advance for any input. Well, I went ahead and replaced the fuel pressure sensor. My problem still remains, but the 29F3 fuel pressure sensor code is gone. When watching the injector voltage, it drops from 14.## to 0.0 when the half power engine light comes on. I am still getting codes -
2E30 Injection valve Cyl 1 input signal 2E31 Injection valve Cyl 2 input signal 2E32 Injection valve Cyl 3 input signal Anyone have any idea where to look next? I really need to get this car back on the road. |

I broke down and took the car to the stealer. They said I need a walnut blast, DME update, new injectors because mine are old revisions, and an induction system clean for the low, low, price of $3,800.
I guess the buildup was decreasing the flow enough for the computer to recognize it wasn't getting enough air and shutting the bank 1 cylinders down. Since I'm not willing to pay that kind of money, I am going to attempt the walnut blast myself and go from there. |

Max,
Be sure to let us know if the walnut blast helps. Also, out of curiosity, did the dealership break down that $3,800 quote? I'm guessing walnut blast $600, DME $200, Injectors $2800 and Induction $200? I'm in the same boat!

Walnut blast didn't fix my issue but it definitely needed it. Cyls 1 and 6 were especially bad.
I am going to replace the injectors next. Waiting on new K+DCAN cable so I can code the values after I install them. Hopefully can get that done tonight. Your breakdown was pretty close except $800 for blast and $2600 for injectors.

So I have tried a few things:
I put in new injectors for bank 1 and coded the values - no change I went ahead and changed the spark plugs - no change I swapped the bank one and bank 2 coil packs - no change My wife actually drove this car back and forth to work all week with no problems. As long as you don't try to accelerate quickly, it drives fine. I can even rev the engine and hold it at 5k rpm without the half engine light coming on. Its only when you try put it under load, that it happens. Still getting the same codes - 2E30, 2E31, 2E32. What else can I look for? I finally got a good K+DCAN cable to use. Is there a way do a diagnosis for this problem with INPA or one of the other programs? Still at a loss with this one. |

I'd recommend swapping to an MSD81. Find one at junkyard and send the MSD81, your CAS, and key to Bimmer ECU Solutions. I'm going to use him when I go to swap. He has really good reviews on google. |
