but I use it to “glue” the factory gaskets in place on both sides and fill any imperfections that might lead to a compromised seal down the road… not as a substitute FOR the OEM gasket. In this scenario it is perfect.

And btw @efthreeoh… I must be stranger than your sig accounts for.

I did put my e34 auto trans knob on the manual in my e34T. Such a nice T knob, reminded me of holding a hurst Vmatic or similar. Snatch down to second, palm slam to 3rd, snatch to 4th… good times.
Need a pic.

that gasket maker is for valve cover applications where the valve cover and head are made out of the same material like aluminum. It cures seals and hardens up with the absence of air. Audis and MBs use this stuff. Some audis have a cam girdle that is below the valve cover and above the head. This is used between the girdle and the head. Same material mating surfaces. in fact is you use regular rtv sealant for that it will leak in the future. This anaerobic stuff will not work with an oil pan. Too much exposure to air and different material mating surfaces.

It should be loctite 5970 but right now i cant find that one in time. There is also loctite 5980. What is difference between 5970 and 5980. Could i still use 5980 or o could i risk something?
