Newer generation will be heavier than the last one, plus bigger in size. Look at the new M5. It’s a rhino now.

Agree, I also think the G80 M3 will be the last true M3.
I will be keeping mine |

I’m taking delivery of my 2025 G80 6MT in the next couple of weeks and the current plan is to keep it forever.
I am not against progress, and I think the electric M3 will be a monster, but the boxes I want to check are: 1) reasonably practical 2) reasonably luxurious 3) reasonably fast 4) manual transmission. Not much on the market today that checks all of those boxes, and likely no new cars will in another couple of years. |

Me too for my G82 that I just got a few months ago. Might pick up a G80 to go along with the G82 before EOP just because I don’t have trust the next one will be equal or better than the G80.

I think classic demand vs supply dynamics for price equilibrium suggests the sheer mainstream volume of G80/82s in the market is not going to sustain prices in any way. Unless somehow BNW invents a whole new future market that will provide enough future buyers to exceed the number of buyers today - or future high inflation bulks the price of older cars. Completely different story for limited edition owners. Even then, it’s not going up often - I’ve experienced that myself as a M2 CS owner. The next big thing comes around and your prized unicorn becomes less relevant to the modern buyer whose chasing something else. If you buy it to drive it and don’t care about appreciation - you’re on a winner Last edited by Jimjamz; Today at 04:27 PM.. |

I like the auto in my F90 M5. Had plenty of manuals — 79 635csi, 99 E36 M3, 99 E39 528i, 08 E90 M3. Slower, worse mpg, not much fun in heavy traffic. They give you something to do, if that is the goal. |

Hard to say but we can expect increase in size and weight in general. That has been the trend for BMW.

Where did you all read that the M3 48v mild hybrid will be an S58? I read https://www.bmwblog.com/2024/10/17/bmw-m3-g84-over-523-horsepower-awd-and-auto-only/ that it’s going to be a 525 hp B58.
Makes sense right? B58 passed the new euro emission standard and BMW can use the M440 as a starting point. Why do you think it has all the M shit on it? Boost that B58 up some power and GRATs the M light is now the new M. I’ll let you all hater figure out what that will do to REAL M cars that came before it….
