72 yr old here. I wish losing a name every now and then was all I forgot. I have been known to stand up from my chair and by the time I'm unbent and done creaking I've completely lost what I was standing up for.

Yes, I forget a variety of things, which is why I write down as much as possible while I still remember it. Such is life.

For those of us who have grown old, we know it is an honor.

Body's 75 but the brain is 18 (except for the memory part). Remember, you have to grow old (if you're lucky), you don't have to grow up. I just wish my body would obey my mind.

Now that I`ve gotten older, everything is finally starting to click for me.
My knees, my back, my neck, EVERYTHING

It certainly beats the alternative.

My neck has been cracking a lot lately. Like cracking knuckles, except in my neck. Might need to get that checked out.

You could be doing something different than before that you might not even be aware of, and that might have something to do with your neck cracking a lot lately. If it's been happening for a few weeks, I would get it checked out by the doctor.

Me, it's my knees. This year I've been sitting down a lot more at work, so I'm almost certain that that has something to do with it. Every time I stand up from the chair, they feel like they are going to snap in half.

I started taking glucosamine and chondroitin again a few weeks ago, and it has helped a bit, but not as much as I was hoping.

The fact that you/we are getting older doesn't help either

I never could remember names, I even struggle with family members I see weekly.

Oh, and the obligatory: Memory is the second thing to go

Can't remember what the first thing was

You sure? Maybe you forgot the other things that have already gone.

Yeah, been meaning to ask, what’s the first?

Any ideas?

I’ll guess… flexibility.

Guess it’s probably different for different people.

Anyway, that’s my choice.

Yeah, I get sore doing certain tasks. I think what pisses me off the most is
having to hire folks to do things I still know how to do. But, I bite the bullet
and get out my checkbook. At my age, it would be foolish of me to climb
ladders to clean the rain gutters; foolish to trim trees and on and on.

On the otherhand, I’m beginning to enjoy watching other people work.

Weeks ago I posted that I started playing softball again after a 52-year absence. You know you're old when it's been that long since you stepped on a baseball field. You really know you're old when you realize that your body doesn't do anything as well; stretching, hitting, throwing, running....everything! But, it's so much fun and my league is full of old guys in the same boat as me.

Estaban, you asked me to post a photo and this post is to oblige. You are still a pup at not-yet-70, but you may remain on my lawn.

Thank you, kind sir. In January I will join the "70s club."

The 70s club has been great for me. At 75 now, I'm 1/2 way to the 80s club. I'm retired and healthy enough to do the things I like to do. Lot's of travel, hiking, skiing, and softball. What is inspiring to me is the men and women in my hiking groups who are even older than me and still going strong. The leader of one of my hiking groups just celebrated his 83rd birthday and he hikes like he's 30. Simply amazing. My most inspirational person is my 94-year-old teammate on my senior softball team. He's been in the senior league for 35 years and he still gets out there and give it his all.

Hopefully, I can keep at it and inspire some younger old people to just get off the couch and do it!
