2011 328 N51 Burning smells
So I'm kinda at a loss on this. My 2011 328i N51 with 152k, went to the Stealership in Aug for the Vanos recall. Came back running fine with no leaks that I can see. My kid drives it the other day and sends me a video of the exhaust smoking after he turned the car off. Some light smoke out of the tail pipes, 70* day so not condensation. He also said it smelled like it was burning. I know it uses about 3/4 of a quart of oil every 5k miles, but no visible exhaust smoke while driving. I took it out up to 100 and it ran fine, no smoke or smells. Car has a fairly new VC and I've installed an oil catch can which collects some oil between changes.
He has never reported any smells prior to the Vanos repairs. I've checked the CCV lines and there is vacuum while removing the oil cap. I'm hoping that the VC pcv system wasn't damaged internally by the tech because proving that would be impossible. Just don't want to drop $ on a new Elring VC if that's not it. Kinda stumped here.
