Exclamation Clutch wont engage any gear - Maybe Throwout bearing?

New to this forums but not bmws!

Just looking to spitball ideas here before i throw a ton of parts at the problem. I work on cars, last one was a miata i rebuilt top down. My first ever car was a 94 V8 530i, and so i wanted to get back to bmw.

Car has 140k miles. 2007 e92 model.

i recently got the car and don't have much on maintence history. Was driving it around to get a feel of what needed to be worked on. The After two hours the clutch refused to get into any gears. ABS light is on, the break fluid is dark AF and for sure has to be replaced. I learned clutch uses the same fluid.

When i start the car there is an exceptional grinding noise with the pedal down on the clutch. I wouldnt say it goes to the floor but there isnt much resistance either. The brake pedal is hard to push down as well. I noticed when i stopped (failed in my drive way thank god) that there was liquid on the pavement. Initially thought it was a fluid leak. But its completely dissappeared which makes me think it was water. odd part is it was under where the front of the car was sitting.

My thought is throwout bearing went bad. But as ive never worked on a car that shares its brake and clutch system I wanted to get some other thoughts here.

Thanks for your guys input/help! Glad to be here. Just wish I got to drive it more before it became another project!

A year ago at about 85k miles I pulled out from a dead stop and ran the rpms up to about 5k and when I shifted from 1 to 2 something mechanical gave and I loss the ability to shift out of second, it was below 30 degrees and my family was in florida for the week so I had to get myself out of that mess. Its no joke trying to make it home with one gear, and no ability to come to a complete stop. You got to think ahead lol!! Anyway my clutch gave as it was worn, which was the catalyst to get a new one installed but not without problems. I took it to the way wrong shop and the idiots messed up more than they fixed before I finally pulled the plug on them. Lesson learned, it could easily be your clutch, in fact thats where my money is if i had to guess. A good luk clutch kit runs about 5 to 6 hundred, flywheel a little more. I went ahead and replaced the clutch pedal, pivot pin, clutch pedal pins, pedal stop you name it but that was because the idiots tore it up. Best of luck
