By auto dip, you mean the dimming aspect of it? If so, then shine your phone's flash light on the rear view mirror sensor. You can find it in the middle top of the glass in a purple colour.
You should see it getting darker. And if you have auto dimming side mirrors, you will see those getting darker as well. If by auto dip you mean the reverse tilt of the passenger side mirror, then simply make sure the little switch for selecting what mirror to adjust is set to the driver side, and then put the car in reverse. That's it. Last edited by codeterrorist; 10-17-2024 at 11:10 PM.. |

Auto dip is not the same auto dimming. The latter is explained in the above posts.
Auto dip means the mirror will tilt down so you can see the curb when you're in reverse. To test that, hit the mirror toggle switch to the left position (LHD). |

Are you sure? Why would the options list describe the interior mirror as auto-dipping if that was the case?

I will have to remove my mirror and check if there's extra wires. My rear view mirror does have the sensor in it but I'm sure they all have that sensor.
I just looked at a picture of the connection and I'm pretty sure mine has auto dim. |

Also check the coding for auto dim. it could be disabled.
But having an error about the mirrors would indicate something is wrong going on. For side mirrors, auto dim mirrors have a plug like these https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=856673 While the heated only look like this https://files.ekmcdn.com/2cb6df/imag...0-A05867B499C4 |

I pulled the mirror off to test the heated circuit on a bench top power supply. The resistance is 11 ohms and the mirror does heat up. I put the thermal camera on it and it looks good. I put the meter on the mirror wires and activated the heating and I'm getting the 12v. I'm not sure why the car gives a fault and doesn't heat up. I can't get the auto dim to work at all but there's no faults for it.
