BMW 2011 328i Phone recognizes aux but no sound.

Hi,
I got my car recently and tried to connect aux audio. My arm unit has usb-aux and 12V outlet. When I connect aux my phone recognizes it but I cannot hear anything. I tried to volume up both speaker and aux all I hear is noise. Anyone can help? (No iDrive)

Are you sure the cable is working. If you have some speaker or another device that accepts AUX input, try it there to eliminate the cable as a problem point.

Next, and a preferred to have it all the time, is diagnostic software.
I personally have Protool with a master license (it's an Android app). It might tell you if there is something with the headunit/radio if the AUX cable is working as it should.

Any possibility you have some other audio source/player/speaker that has headphone jack then you can plug your AUX cable and try. Might be something software related on the iPhone.
The other things you can debug is actually removing the headunit/radio and checking the plug for the AUX input. Not sure which one, but it doesn't hurt to check all plugs are seated well.
And maybe check the AUX port in the arm rest. Not sure how you would remove the trim to check that. Maybe search on Youtube.
