335i N54: Strange Noise at Idle + Limp Mode Issue After Sport Mode
Hello everyone!
I’m fairly new to the N54 platform. I bought a 335i with the N54 engine a couple of months ago and recently took it on a 1,500-mile road trip. The car performed flawlessly, but I encountered a couple of issues. After a fuel stop, I noticed a strange, loud noise when the car was in neutral and idling. I recorded a video of it here: (https://drive.google.com/file/d/1zhK...?usp=drivesdk) There’s also another issue: after a cold start, I drove in “D” for about 5–7 minutes, then switched to sport mode and revved to the redline. At that point, the car began vibrating heavily and went into limp mode. However, after turning the car off and restarting it, everything was back to normal. I suspect this could be due to carbon buildup, as the previous owner mentioned doing a walnut blast about 60k miles ago. Any thoughts or advice would be appreciated! Thanks! |
