Sirius retrofit coding...NOT required???
Hey all, so I got a used Sirius module from the local salvage yard and the install bracket kit from fcp. Mounted it up in the trunk, moved all the fiber optic cables behind the seat and I showed Sirius on the head unit. Pretty easy install actually. I did NOT have the preview or weather station. I assumed that would show up after coding. I called Sirius to add the radio to my account and planned on doing the coding tomorow. To my surprise after they sent the activation signal to the radio, it did the channel update and started working! Everything works as it should with no coding. 09 e90 with out idrive/navigation. Sirius prep package from factory.
My question is should I still go in and code it or just leave it as is?

So the retrofit went so easily on this that I grabbed another Sirius module and attempted it on my other e90. Fiber optic wires were much different! This one has way less wires. The only issue I ran in to was on the top block you are supposed to remove both wires from slot 4… o only had wires in slot 3. I tried with out moving them…no go. I used the wires in slot 3 as if they were in slot 4 and everything works… again with no coding required!!!
Anyone who has put off this retrofit simply due to coding should atleast attempt it and maybe luck out the way I did. Both of these are 2009’s
