Hello Newbie here

Hello All,

As my user name suggests. My kids think im a Garage as well and will fix all their cars.
Guess what one of them has bought a 2010 316d E90. Joy I hear you say.
He knew it had problems.
I know have to do a crash course in BMW. The car is not showing any love so far.
Key mechanism broken. Did that.
Drivers door lock actuator replacement. (right hand in the UK) Not hard. Shame the frm died when connecting the battery. FRM sorted but I think the new actuator has a problem will no topen with the key. So more to do at the weekend.
Just have an ABS sensor to sort and get to grips with INPA.
Hope not to post many problem questions but maybe be able to contribute in some way in the future.
Thanks for reading. ( Thats if you stayed awake long enough. ) :-)

Hello guys, Newbie here

Hi everyone! I'm excited to join this forum site and connect with other enthusiasts. I've been a fan of BMW for years and recently purchased an E90 model. I'm looking forward to learning more about the car and sharing my experiences with the community. This is my first time joining a car forum, so please let me know if there's anything I should know or if any tips you have for getting started. Thanks.

A bit late to this part of the forum only just noticed it the other night. Im the lucky owner of a 335d e91 lci for almost 3 years.

Its my 4th bmw in a row. In order of 2006 530d e60 - 2006 330d e90 - 2006 335d e90 to where I am now.

Bought the car totally standard with just an mtc intercooler and a tuning box fitted.

Now she’s stage 3 engine and gearbox remap and around 430bhp by glen at gkr.

Great car can’t beat the engine for power and economy also bonus I’ve got is a panoramic roof.

Lots of work done over the years even had a top end rebuild and chains done about 3 months ago as engine died while driving.

Now tempted to buy a fresh set of injectors and maybe push more power let’s see where the rocky road leads to or maybe sell up and build a big power m140i in sunset orange Wich I’m very tempted by.

Smile Hello Folks

Hi everyone, I just wanted to make a quick introduction. I've had a e91 318D for a few years now, I must admit I only bought it as I wanted an Estate car with cheap road tax, and much to my surprise this popped up in my search, not far away with low miles.

Anyway I've come to like it a lot, even though she is just an old girl and really a sheep in wolf's clothing. Another good thing is that she is old enough to be able to work on myself, not too many electronics on it if you know what I mean.

I've got more and more disillusioned with garages, the standard of work they do, and the hassle and expense involved, so have recently decided to do the work on the car myself, and invest the money saved on tools.

I maybe should mention that over the last few years I have restored an old Land Rover Series 3 and fitted a Rover 3.5 V8 in it, so that has built up confidence in my mechanical skills.

So far I have changed rear drive shafts, as I was having problems with the ABS sensors, which turned out to be the reluctor rings gone very rusty. I've put new discs and calipers on the rear, and done oil changes.

My idea is to keep it as long as possible and see if I can't get at least 200,000 miles out of it, so I am starting to plan for how that will work, and what I need to keep on top of, which is why I decided to come on here and hopefully pick up some tips and advice.

Hi. Long time (3 years) lurker here.
Bought one owner 46,000 miles E93 325i SE auto with FBMWSH one week before lockdown (March 2020) at very good price.
It’s a 58-plate with CIC, DAB, Bluetooth, MSport heated seats, 800W high end audio, F/R parking sensors, folding mirrors, comfort access, active steering, high-beam assist, plus other small extras.
Apart from doing a gearbox oil change, updating Sat nav, adding personalised No. plate, painting the brake callipers and replacing worn run-flats with standard tyres, it’s needed nothing other than normal servicing. I’m doing this at a BMW main dealer to keep the service history going.

Mrs K loves it.

Hello everyone!

I am the recent owner of a 335i Sport Plus Edition manual coupe, although it has unfortunately got rod knock and I am looking into getting the engine either rebuilt or replaced.

(Recommendations for garages/engine builders in London/South East area are appreciated!)

I've put up a few pictures below. It has just under 120k miles and is Le Mans Blue with the 19" style 313 wheels.

I started my BMW journey a few years ago with a 1990 E30 320i SE in Glacierblue, then a 2003 E46 330ci Sport in Silvergrey, then a Mini Cooper, than a 1999 E46 323i SE auto in Orientblue.

Nice to meet you all

Newby

Evening All!!

Newby here living in the beautiful Peak District. I escaped London many, many years ago - the username will give a clue about one of my passions

I've owned my 2010 318D e91 for a little under six months. This is my first privately owned car since the mid '80s, having had Company cars since then. It's my first BMW and, as great as it is to drive, it has been the most unreliable car I have ever had sadly.

I guess that here is probably not the place to ask for help so I'll pop over to one of the technical areas to post a tale of woe and ask for some guidance from some of you guys. I've lost faith with the fella that has been doing work on it.

Good to meet you all

cheers,
ZRB

Am I the oldest petrol head Newbie on here at 71 ?

Hi, loved cars since I passed my test in 1969 and bought a Mini Cooper S then followed many BMWs 316, 320i 323i 328i then the ultimate M3 in 1992 then an official Ralliart imported Evo VI in 1999 which drove like a go kart !! a couple of FABULOUS B7 RS4s, now retired with an E92 325i M Sport auto coupe in Le Mans blue with the cream, (look like) leather seats which I’m loving

I was a member of this site when I had my BMs so looking forward to reading all the different threads from the new younger members

Cheers

Just to say Hi, fairly new to BMW with my 2006 325i E92. I needed a car quickly to tide me over and a mate had this 2006 E92 to sell on behalf of family member. Never looked or wanted a BMW before, it had MOT, drove, engine sounded good, was the right money so save me spending hours and days looking for a temporary solution to goive me time to look for what I might want for a long term keeper I took it on. It is a very clean model, no body rust whatsoever, very clean unmarked black leather interior, Montego Blue Metallic paintwork and with 126,000 genuine on the clock, it's low mileage foior an 18 year old car. It hasnt been a sales rep car and hasnt been ragged and is totally unmodded/unmapped so it's as it was when it left the factory and it's staying that way while I have it.

Since March it has really grown on me and I actually really like it so am now at the point this may well be my long ish term keeper to use as my daily. So much so I have delved into the BMW world of these to learn all I can when I can and when need to about this car, I realised they are not a plug and play and it's handy, almost essential to have some knowledge about what I drive to avoid a disaster and to spot issues before they get serious and to know how and why the essentials work. Before this, I'd never even heard of a Vanos and Vanos solenoids or a Valvetronic motor, now I do and have got fair good understanding of how they work, the job they do and why, clever shit is all I can say. It's been fun so far and even more fun driving it. I've never had a car with ECU's, DME's and all the electric engine management systems.

There are now some issues being resolved so will have questions, as much for my own learning as anything because one thing I have learnt is that when it does go into my trusted quality mechanic, it is very handy amd nice to be able to have a proper conversation about what is going on, any symptoms and the fix, it engages him to help build a picture rather than dump it on them with little to nothing to go on and hopefully save me some money although am not scared of the bills that may arise.

I did join a facebook group for tech talk to get info and learn more but they seem more concerned about people buying 'M' stickers and putting them on cars that are not 'M' models than actually helping folk with answers to queries and questions.

Look forward to engaging here.

Hi all.

New member here from Motherwell (near Glasgow) in Scotland. I've been the proud owner of a 318i (143bhp) SE 4d 2008 petrol model. Car is a lovely colour of bronze so looks great in my opinion especially when wet as has a nice shine and reflects the light beautifully at time. I love the shape of the car especially the doors which have that nice sculpted look with that sweeping line that cuts across them.

I've been having a few issues of late so on here to gain some knowledge, help and advice from others. Car currently has just hit 90,000 miles and engine starts and runs like a dream.

Hope you all are well.

Jordan.

Hi all,

another newbie to add to the list.

Bought my 318i E90 LCI 2011 a few weeks ago after my workhorse Passat TDI had one too many major defects to pass an MOT.

The 3 Series is my first ever BMW and also my first petrol engine in about 15 years.

It's got some issues and now I've read up on the N43 it seems I'm in for some interesting times.

Juts had the oil, filters and spark plugs changed, but it has some misfires and the dreaded passenger seat occupancy fault. (It's the M sport seats too, which I believe makes it a PITA to sort out)

Got it booked into my local BMW garage for 2 outstanding recalls which they are honouring without any question
(Vaccum pump and Ignition Coil. Which is nice as I was planning to do the coils next.)

Another new member here, been on the lookout for a clean 335i for quite a while now! Finally managed to purchase one this week.. an extremely clean n55 touring in sapphire black. I’m thinking I’m going to start a thread to track my progress with car as a long term project! Looking forward to learning more about the platform, as I’ve been mainly into VW and Audi since passing my test.
