F1 2024: Brazilian GP - São Paulo (Nov 3)

Schedule:

This is a sprint race weekend!

Circuit:

Autódromo José Carlos Pace Interlagos (São Paulo)

Quote:
When was the track built?

Building work began on what ended up being called the Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace – but what is more commonly referred to as Interlagos – all the way back in 1938. The track designers took their inspiration from three main circuits: Brooklands in the UK, Roosevelt Raceway in the USA and Montlhery in France.
When was its first Grand Prix?

Buoyed by the success of Brazil’s Emerson Fittipaldi, Formula 1 first jetted into Interlagos for a world championship race in 1973. Fans were treated to a home win in the first three Brazilian Grands Prix, with Fittipaldi victorious in 1973 and 1974, while Carlos Pace won in 1975.
What’s the circuit like?

Like many pre-World War II tracks, Interlagos features banked corners, with the drivers beginning their lap on a sort of half oval – in fact, between 1957 and the track’s return to the F1 calendar in 1990, Interlagos could be run as a giant oval. After wiggling through the Senna S and down to Turn 4, the drivers then go through a snaking in-field section with some challenging camber changes, before slinging back up the hill and through the banked final turn.
Why go?

A carnival atmosphere really does dominate in Brazil, and watching Formula 1 cars alongside the locals is something every F1 fan should experience. True, it doesn’t look like there’ll be a local driver to cheer on any time soon, but that won’t stop the party at Interlagos.
Where is the best place to watch?

Because of the bowl-like nature of the track, a place in Grandstand A on the banked entry to the start-finish straight will give you a double whammy of views, allowing you to see the cars winding through the infield section and then passing underneath you. On the other end of the straight, Grandstand M will put you on top of the first corner and the Senna S, the best spot to watch overtakes on the track.

So what are your predictions?
Rumours are that Max will need a new engine (at least the block), so that means a grid penalty. I'm not sure how that works with a sprint weekend, but I assume the grid penalty is for the main race, not the sprint race.
Max was significantly slower in the speed traps at the Mexican GP than the other top teams (and also slower than his teammate)
Ferrari sure was strong in Mexico, both in qualifying as in the race, but Lando was very fast in the latter part of the race.
My prediction:
1. NOR
2. LEC
3. PIA
4. HAM
5. VER
6. SAI
7. RUS
8. HULK
9. LAW
10. ALO

But who knows what kind of shenanigans Max will come up with to make the most of the rules
His actions during the last race in Mexico seemed very brutal and severely punished, but in hindsight, if Lando had passed him at an earlier point (and Max had recieved no penalties) the outcome could've been that Lando had won the race (at the end he passed LEC easily and gained significantly on SAI) and Max could've been 4th (I don't think Max could've passed any of the Ferrari's).
Result: Now Max lost 10 points on Lando (18pts - 8 pts); if Lando had won and Max was 4th, Max would've lost 13 points on Lando (25pts-12 pts). Is Max and the RB strategic department so good that they thought of this prior to the race, or in the first stage of the race (once they saw how fast SAI was for example, pure on engine speed/power when he overtook Max)?

Of course it's also known to rain from time to time in Brazil

Let’s hope the Max Factor finally breaks the 11-race no-win streak. Somebody please give this guy a winning car.

I really don’t see max or redbull getting wins the rest of the year.

And I think McLaren kick themselves for not getting Lando more points when he could have (and should have).

Would love to see Ferrari get the constructors though at this point.

Yeah and Max getting the WDC. So McLaren gets nothing
I would really feel for Lando, but I'd love to see Zak kick himself in the head

...strange feeling, being a big McLaren fan in the late 80's early 90's, now wanting Ferrari more to win the WCC

I don't think they are kicking anything.

They are still trying to figure out who Lando is racing.

A - Oscar
B - Max
C - Carlos
D - Charles

in that order
