e93 power issue

2011 e93 330d

ok so i put my foot down and instead of the usual pull forcing me back into the seat i got a very loud pop sound like a balloon popping but louder and no pull at all. ever since it hasn’t driven the same no pull and it’s using more fuel. There are no fault codes/warning lights no smoke from the exhaust. it’s been into a garage it was sat there for almost 2 weeks and after phone calls and a visit they eventually looked at it. they say they did a smoke test and a visual inspection but can’t find an issue and tried telling me it’s driving fine. all they could tell me is there is a whistle down the bottom front left (as if your standing in front of the car) they seemed like they weren’t interested or couldn’t be bothered or maybe just couldn’t work it out. i can’t see any blown torn hoses from what i can see at least. does anyone have any experience of this or any ideas what could be wrong? the lack of pull and increased fuel is frustrating me

Could the whistle be coming from the intercooler? Intercoolers can split, or the joint where the charge pipe attaches can leak/fail.

seems to be coming from down there i just can’t see much from the top and i can’t get underneath. maybe if i take the airbox out i can get access. wouldn’t that show up on a smoke test….assuming they did actually do one

i forgot to mention that occasionally when i start from cold and put it into reverse it will misfire and make the whole car shake but this goes away quite quick and only happens in reverse but not every time
