Throttle codes
Throttle codes
Hey guys, I just got an 08 e90 with the n54 and literally within 10 days of owning it the check engine light came on. Just my luck. Well I’ve been trying to get to the bottom of these weird codes and after doing some research I just can’t seem to find anything that pertains to my situation. The car is bone stock, no tunes or anything. I noticed that the problem is very intermittent and happens on cold starts, but levels itself out as it gets warmer. I’ll start the car up first thing in the morning and the engine starts running rough and feels a little jerky. It also revs erratically and drops below 500rpm but I can keep it on by applying a little bit of throttle. I was thinking maybe a vacuum leak so I took the air box, charge pipe and diverters out to inspect for leaks but everything seemed normal. I also went ahead and cleaned the throttle body hoping that’ll at least do something. It wasn’t that dirty but I did notice that the TB makes some kind of clacking noise when moved around(not sure if that’s normal?). I put everything back together and turned it on and suddenly the revs started bouncing from 500 to 1.1k in a weird rhythm continuously. I cleared codes and all was good for about a week. The car drove fine and felt very responsive. Then this morning I turned the car on and as I was waiting for the car to warm up the car stalled. It seemed like the engine choked. I turned it on again and it stalled again. After that the revs started doing that rhythmic bounce. I’m honestly just stumped here. I’m new to the n54 platform so I’d appreciate any advice if anyone’s been thru this before. |

Are you also able to reset throttle adaptations? I had that rhythmic throttle when I didn’t wait 30 seconds after resetting my throttle adaptation, waiting the 30 seconds is important |
