Menards Trip Costs an Extra $500.00
Not my favorite Halloween today.
After picking up a $17 piece of trim at Menards, I found my e91 rear passenger door deeply scratched and dented in. Even though I always park far away from other cars and potential shopping cart hazards. The paintless dent guys said no go because of the deep crease in the damage. So I am filing a claim with State Farm. My agent said to call it vandalism as I never saw the cause of the damage. That might save me the $500.00 deductible as a comprehensive claim was her thinking. The SF claim agent was trying to push this back into a collision claim but I stood my ground. She called it comprehensive and then gave me their highest rated body shop in my area. My next door neighbor worked for State Farm and said the “preferred” body shop will try to push this claim out of comprehensive, and back into collision. That’s how these shops roll to play ball with the insurance companies. It turns out if it was a shopping cart hitting an empty car, that’s collision. I never saw the cause. I’m heading to the shop tomorrow and we’ll see what it costs. I’m a decent body guy but blending that paint in the most obvious spot is not my forte. |
