so trap for young players
so i have a 2007 e92 with the "professional" head unit in it, and wanted to bring it up to something more modern, especially as the display is failing.
now i could have spent a heap of money on a HU, or i could have spent a little less, but no i was a cheapskate and bought a Unit from aliexpress. i particularly wanted that integrated look like it had always been there, and while once installed it did infact deliver and the functionality was ok, i really wanted hands free phone and navigation, music was a secondary requirement. Unfortunately this is where it all went pear shaped, i lost most of the HVAC controls and the AC, fan started actingly weirdly, so assumed i had done something wrong i pulled it all out checked connectors , with no success. next scanned codes and got 9C48,9C49,9C4A,9C4b, all to do with IHKA: Flap motors. so tried resetting, no success, tried a new battery ( ive just got this car so who knows how old the barely is) so last resort pulled it all out and just put the heat/AC control panel in and immediately got about 80% functionality back, scanned for codes and the same ones still came up, so re fitted the radio and immediately i plugged in the connector for the radio i could hear flap? motors running, cleared all codes and scanned again and NO codes, and everything is back to normal. conclusion is, that there must be some interconnection thru the radio, and while the after market HU performed as it should the missing link for the Heat/AC killed the deal moving forward, i don't know what to do, i don't want to cut holes in my dash or have one of these larger screen units, but i do want at least hands free for the phone. plus can i get the screen replaced on my existing "Professional" head unit what are my options if you got this far thanks for reading my tale of woe i remember when i had my e53 X5 the chat on the forums about this and people were removing the factory HU and installing it in the glove box so as not to loose functionality, i however thought by now these sort of problems would have been resolved, apparently not |
