Issues with CAS, battery and/or key
Have searched all over but stumped on this issue. 2008 e90 with 130k miles just started giving problems when starting. It has comfort access and I have replaced CR2032 batteries in the remotes so its not the key. What happens is you can unlock car using button on fob, and when you get in, there is the yellow key symbol on dash. Press start button, nothing happens. If you put the fob in the slot, the slot ejects it back out! Weird I know. But if you keep pushing it in about 2-3 times, the computer wakes up and you can then press start button and she fires right up. But there is now a yellow key symbol with a line through it showing on dash.
I have checked voltage on main battery, its 12.3-12.4 volts after sitting a while so seems to be holding charge. I have had other glitchy electrical issues for few years, mainly the clock resets every time you turn off car so its useless. I scanned for codes using BimmerLink and nothing shows up for CAS or ignition system. Thoughts appreciated. Been big fan of this forum over the years, helped save me lots of $$! |

Need to know Fault Codes in CAS Module & DME (Engine) Module.
In US, any large parts retailer such as Advance Auto or AutoZone will read fault codes FREE. George |
