How to clean the old oil under valve cover

Hello
My car was leaking oil from valve cover gasket area for a while, and finally the gasket was replaced. The dealer did not clean the gunk of oil, and it's still there.
I like to clean the oil that way if there is an oil leak, I know right away.

Can I just spray oil de greaser to remove those gunk? Spray water down in the engine bay? Do I need to remove the under cover to let water escape to the floor?

Some of areas are hard to reach, and I am wondering spraying de greaser is enough to remove those oil stain and gunk.

Any advice is welcome.

Thank you.

I would imagine removing the splash trays from underneath will allow the dirty soapy water to drip down so it doesn't get collected on the trays.

As suggested, remove the splash tray then clean the area with a degreaser and a nylon brush. The tray over the exhaust manifold should be bright aluminum and I remember how satisfying it was to clean after I DIY'd the VCG.
