Gloss or Flat black paint for roof rails

So I want to repaint my 06' 325i's roof rails because they are faded pretty bad.
I want to respray them back to their original black color but what is the stock color, flat black or glossy black?
I've seen people on Youtube paint them both ways.

Unless you had the ZHP package's gloss trim you would use a satin black, like SEM Part #39143 Trim Black.

Cool! Thank you! I don't have the ZHP package, didn't realize the E90's had a ZHP package. Thought that was only for the E46 330ci

I thought your '06 325i was an E46 - if it's an E90 I'm not familiar with their trim packages. You can put your VIN or car info in at https://www.realoem.com/bmw/select.do to see what you have. Good luck!

F30 has a ZHP package - I'm not sure about E90.

Doesn't say what color it is though

BTW where can we order these parts from? The price for new roof rails here are insanely great!

Roof molding left - SCHWARZ MATT = black matte. Satin black will be a good match.

Realoem.com is just an online parts catalog - can't buy there & the prices are way out of date. Use the BMW part # you find there & shop for the best price. Many dealers have internet sales much cheaper than over the counter at the dealership. Some even sell on eBay.

BMW list price for the molding is $385. These two dealers are in CA - check with them:

I seem to recall 14-clips needed if you want to remove the trim to paint it. Not hard, but they will break. Not hard to do it in-place, but sanding is easier if you take it off. I've always used Krylon semi-flat but it's now only sold as an industrial finish, but still available if you look for it. I recently bought a dozen cans so I won't run out.

Dries so quickly you'll love it.
