e93 power issue

2011 e93 330d

ok so i put my foot down and instead of the usual pull forcing me back into the seat i got a very loud pop sound like a balloon popping but louder and no pull at all. ever since it hasn’t driven the same no pull and it’s using more fuel. There are no fault codes/warning lights no smoke from the exhaust. it’s been into a garage it was sat there for almost 2 weeks and after phone calls and a visit they eventually looked at it. they say they did a smoke test and a visual inspection but can’t find an issue and tried telling me it’s driving fine. all they could tell me is there is a whistle down the bottom front left (as if your standing in front of the car) they seemed like they weren’t interested or couldn’t be bothered or maybe just couldn’t work it out. i can’t see any blown torn hoses from what i can see at least. does anyone have any experience of this or any ideas what could be wrong? the lack of pull and increased fuel is frustrating me

Could the whistle be coming from the intercooler? Intercoolers can split, or the joint where the charge pipe attaches can leak/fail.

seems to be coming from down there i just can’t see much from the top and i can’t get underneath. maybe if i take the airbox out i can get access. wouldn’t that show up on a smoke test….assuming they did actually do one

i forgot to mention that occasionally when i start from cold and put it into reverse it will misfire and make the whole car shake but this goes away quite quick and only happens in reverse but not every time

Hi everyone, I have an issue an I can’t find where to post it so I’m hoping here is ok.

I brought my e93 n53 (without 3 stage manifold) with a few issues, most I have worked on a now fixed. I’m in the uk also.

I went to update the software on the dme due to a rough idle and winkfp and ista p show two different options.

Winkfp says zb 8619286
ISTA p says. Zb 8619288
Bimmerlabs also list 8619286 as the firmware.

I tried both, 88 seems more powerful than 86 but I don’t know if it’s the correct one. Is anyone able to help me out? Original zb shows as 7602410 and it’s an msd81 however inpa sees it as an msd80 (I think due to it being changed as the dme has a 2009 date on it) my last 7 of my vin is JV92746.

Ista always wants to use the one ending 88 even if I use 86 1st. However if I put 88 on there then winkfp then says 88 is the most up to date. One of the zb must be wrong but what one🤦🏼*♂️

Valemtine20 rather than hijacking this thread, why don't you open a new thread in the technical section? You may find you get more answers as people won't be clicking on an unrelated thread.

I’ll see if I can find it. I have no idea how to really use this so I apologise. I’m just trying to find out the difference between the 2 zb numbers as like I said ista p chooses 1 but winkfp says the other and I don’t know what ones correct.
