Eonon vs Major Brand Head Unit
Hey all,
I'm looking to put a new head unit in my non i-drive e-91. It currently has the BMW Professional head unit and it's missing quite a few pixels at this point, plus I'd love to get android auto and a backup camera. I'm curious why everyone seems to gravitate towards the android units like the Eonon instead of the major car audio players (sony, pioneer, kenwood, etc.) and if there's a rear reason I shouldn't be considering one of those for the swap. Any insight? |

I get that - but they all honestly connect to the phones so I'm not sure why we gravitate towards the off-brand units or the Dynavin units and nothing in between. |

The old school brands have not really catered to the BMW setup and are more expensive but more solid.
The Chinese units catered to the fit sorta and provided adapters , and where half the price. No support for the most part . When cars went to Head units that where kind of directly integrated with the rest of the car it became much harder to put in head unit. The Most Bus in Euro cars made things a lot more difficult for retrofits. If you do the old school brands you need to be searching for the Harnesses and adapters that make them sorta plug and play and also be sure they are compatible with the speaker and amp setup your particular BMW has. You also need to be able to program out the BMW modules that are dependent on the Most Bus . The stereo runs the warning gongs in most models. There are Pixel Repair places for the old head unit and DIY's here if you can find the part. |
