New aftermarket head unit and amp for Logic7 system
Ive searched and haven't found quite what Im looking for.
I have a 08 135i with top hifi Pro (no navi) which uses the same amp as the e9x cars that have HK. I just dont have a center channel. I want to upgrade to a Android HU but understand it wont work because of the MOST system. Is there anything stopping me from replacing the amp with an aftermarket amp so that the new HU and the new AMP work together? Looking at the wiring diagram it appears there are 6 channels used. 2 subs, 2 front and 2 rear. Is there anything weird about the speakers that a normal amp wouldn't work? Something like a JL 6 channel or JBL MS-8? Thanks Last edited by cruizin01; 02-21-2022 at 12:13 PM.. |

First do you have I drive Nav or Pro Radio?
It's possible to do a replacement for a pro Radio and use a analog to Most system adapter . Or put in a new amp as well but consider there are 9 channels on the Logic 7 amp so there are a lot of things to consider. If you already have I drive you can get piggy back unit that has everything in the replacement screen which almost always use's the Aux as an Input . Fidelity through the Aux can be bad and you must have the Aux selected to run audio out of the new unit. Because the Screen in the Hump would be dead in a Aftermarket replacement in a Idrive/Nav nobody does it. JBL ms-8 is literally obsolete. There are better multi channel amps with DSP now. Sorry I meant to put its a PRO radio.
I've seen those adapters but they seem to be hit or miss quality and functionality wise. No fader, etc. I'll dig through more of those posts. Thanks |

You can do a lot if you through a lot of money at it .
Logic 7 is a difficult choice as it's semi decent as it is. But hard to come up with a good solution that you may not think is that great. Center channels are not for stereo's there for AVR receivers. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=138949 https://www.e90post.com/forums/attac...1&d=1209780605 9 channels for logic 7 the Hi Fi is 6 channels Last edited by ctuna; 02-21-2022 at 02:51 PM.. |

Don't know about the 1 series but here it's always been 9 channels for the
length to the E9x series.(and even beyond option 677 or 688 depending on year) How did you look that up ? And if you look at any of the threads here everybody reports the same. https://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1144129 or this https://www.bmwgm5.com/Logic7_E60_61.htm which is the same one used on the e90 and apparently in the 1 series to if you go to Logic 7 info at the same site. https://www.bmwgm5.com/ Go to logic 7 info after opening this. there is a menu selection for it right under FZV antenna. List all logic 7 amps by series and year. Last edited by ctuna; 02-21-2022 at 07:00 PM.. |

Best to look at the actual part no on the AMP.
Also the option number which can be obtained on Mdecoder.com. bmwgm5 also has a list of part no's for Logic 7 as I listed and they use the same logic 7 amp through out every series according to that list. The diagram that they list is different from the one you put up but it seems to come in the same format. With three less channel's I would think the amp would be smaller. Ive decided to purchase a Match UP 7BMW amplifier. This by default doesn't work with my 677 option but I plan to purchase the pigtails and just rewire as needed. Im hoping to utilize the the optical output from the Joying Unit and run the Match Optical input. Ill post up as I progress.

I guess it's toslink doesn't really say .
If I where you I would see if I could download the manual. I know you can download the manual for the BMW7 . The audiotec fisher site also has the software and instructions for setting up the DSP. Following links should be helpful for DSP. Its a 14 part video. I already have the unit. The manual is mostly useless. (the downside of these "cheap" units)
But there are several guys that have used the digital output. Worst case I can still use it analog. Just be simpler to use a single input/output. |

Just wanted to update this for anyone looking to replace their Logic7 setup for a aftermarket hu.
The Match 7 amp comes with a harness for a hifi car. I bought a connector and wiring to plug into that end. I then found the male pins to plug into the car side Logic 7 connection. I wasn't able to easily find the plastic connector so I shrunk wrapped the pins and plugged them in. I decided to utilized the separate power and ground on the amp instead of using the power and ground in the factory harness. Oddly enough the logic 7 amps are in the rear door panels instead of the trunk area. Everything was slightly more difficult to fit and wire. The amp I was able to mount in the trunk floor. Its so small it doesn't require much space. The wiring requires more fore thought than anything else. I ran a optical digital connection from the new Joying HU to the new amp. I also ran a remote turn on from the Joying HU to the amp. The HU required a constant 12v source so I also ran that to the battery. Once everything was hardwired I download the Match software and downloaded a "tune". Sounds great. Obviously I need to spend some learning the software and making adjustments but overall Im very happy with it. I want to move the display up just a bit to not block the climate control but the single din bracket will need modified a bit so Ill do that later on. These new Joying units are super impressive when using their canbus interfaces. I have next to zero complaints with it. |

So you had no trouble with the toslink working for all channels?
It would be interesting to know how the channels come through on the Amp/DSP. How do you intend to raise the screen. |

Once you download an applicable setup to the amp all the channels are routed to the correct outputs. But all that can be setup manually as well. I did turn the center channel off since I dont have one. There are bolt on clips on the back of the screen to adjust it up and down in relation to the head unit itself. |

I have a question: So basically if you get a 8 channel amp with a new HU you would lose the center channel? How big of a deal is that? Also, if your new HU has TOSLINK output and new amp had TOSLINK input- do you bypass the MOST system altogether? Would you only need amp wiring and a toslink cable? |
