What should I do to update gm transmission?

I was looking to upgrade my gm tranny because its software is original from 2006 and I heard that later revisions have better programming. I'm planning to connect it to another car for stable voltage, are there any certain precautions that I should take in order to make sure I don't get a bricked module? I've flashed my transfer case before because xdelete messed it up while flashing so I'm not a total noob.

Thanks!

If it is GM1912 transmission make sure to flash it using only Bimmergeeks cable. From my understanding they're the only cable on the market that has the firmware to flash gm1912, standard kdcan will cause a failure.

I have the bimmergeeks cable, is it possible that winfkp will upgrade my transmission to a version that is too new to be compatible with my car? Or is this something that I shouldn't be concerned about.

I like to use FindECU program to determine ecu to choose in winkfp if winkfp identify ecu doesn't come up with anything. Upon searching your ZB you have GM1912 ecu. So just f1 comfort mode, F3 choose GM1912, F4 enter vin, f8 done and F3 prog zb update. Winkfp will automatically detect newest compatible ZB number
