Stock exhaust pipe diameter?

Hey everyone,
What is the pipe diameter of the stock exhaust?
my car is a 2009 e90 335i.
Is it 2.25 in or 2.5 in?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

EDIT: I used the search button and found in another thread that on an e92 335i it is 2.25 inches. Is it the same for me? http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=159273

For the experts, which x pipe do you think would be better?

I believe it's actually 60 mm or about 2.36 inches.

Get the 2.5" Magnaflow part # 10791. If you really want to save money and go with aluminized pipe... pick up a $30 dollar ebay pipe, or just have a local shop make one for the same price. I preferred stainless steel, and the best price I found on the Magnaflow was at performance peddler dot com. Great mod for my E90, and done after a lot of research into the subject.

The exhaust piping also isn't round from beginning to end. Near the secondary cats the piping is flat to accomodate that metal skid plate thing.

Are you fully catless? Is it bad or bearable?
I am thinking of just getting new piping made from my AR catless downpipes back to the muffler...

I was 3" catless downpipes that did NOT taper to 2.5" like all AR dp's or any other 3" dp out there. I had custom 3" downpipes made that were true 3" and 3" catless mid pipes that were made to match. It was 3" all the way back to the resonator by the rear axle and that was slip jointed onto the stock muffled exhaust. This was a great sound of which I have video clips for and no, the smell was bearable. If you are somebody who doesn't like car smells and sounds then maybe you'd prefer to avoid it, however I didn't mind... It was definitely noticable, don't get me wrong. Sometimes I'd even think that I smelled the exhaust even when I was nowhere near my vehicle, however gains are gains and the sound was very unique. Tame while idling and low rpm and had a nice exotic like sound when accelerating. I sold this dp/mp setup to a member here that had dinan mufflers. I was excited to hear how they sounded however I've never heard back from him.

The stock e92 exhaust tips measure out to be 60mm (2.36 inches) I'll be adding a 2.5 inch tip on my stock exhaust. It shouldn't cause any issues I'm hoping *fingers crossed*

Thanks for the info guys but this thread is a few years old now.

Fortunately I'm now in a 2013 e92 M3 and have some special mods planned so stay tuned!

Did it work? Trying to do it myself. I want to put quad exhausts on my 335i E92 which are 63mm in and 101mm out
