Pre LCI front turn signal LED conversion

I'm trying to install aftermarket LED front turn signal bulb replacements in a 2007 328 with halogen lights. The LED parts go in in place of the incandescent lamps just fine-but they won't light. Incandescent bulb works OK. I have checked continuity through the removable socket and I'm getting a good connection. The LEDs even glow with my ohmmeter fed to them. I've coded the car for LED front turn signal with Bimmercode. Any chance BMW wired the sockets so +12V hits the shell of the lamp? LEDs are polarized with shell being (-), center electrode is +. Anybody had this problem?
