Noise from driver side wheel
Hi,
Hope you can help. I have a 325i 2009 and I have a noise from the front driverside wheel. I have changed the susspension, tie rods, both wishbones all round and now the roll bar bushes. When driving and the natural humps in the road no noise and a comfortable ride. But when I hit a small hole or sunken drain cover even going slow I get a bang that sounds like my alloy wheels hit the road with no tyre on. It concerns me that if I'm going more than 30mph my wheel or what ever is being hit will fail and cause an accident. It's passed an MOT so I'm now stumped. Any ideas? Thanks. |

Hard to diagnose a noise without hearing it, but have you checked the brakes? Try stripping and rebuilding with anti seize.

Hi Phil, I have changed wheel bearing, discs and pads. The noise is a heavy thud and it sends vibration up the steering wheel and can feel in the footwell like metal on metal or if you have a flat tyre and drive in a pot hole the sound of road meeting alloy wheel.

Thanks Phil
Changed all of them. I am now wondering if the control arm is hitting. When I look at the lower bush where it joins the car it looks like it's touching the bracket. No gap, so was wondering moving up and down ok but if knocked backwards it hits the subframe? |

Hi Phil,
Found the problem. I upgraded the front suspension and the tie rods from suspension to roll bar was adjusted to long so it was hitting the body. Now I need to find a measurement for this setup so it is in the correct place.. any ideas on how to setup rollbar from scratch? Peter |
