N52B25 to N52B30 problems

Hi guys, I owned a 325i with a N52B25 and ZF6 gearbox. Just a few months ago, the engine block was cracked and coolant got leaked into cylinders which causes serious misfiring. Due to that, the mechanic suggested me for a engine swap and so I did it. But instead of swapping another B25 into it, I got a N52B30AF. After the swap, the car behaving weirdly (not rough idling) without error codes such as:

1) inconsistent lost in power, usually at <4k RPM (It feels like the engine is farting and no power coming in when stepping on the paddle, but doesn't happen all the time)
2) heavy jerk when gear change (never happened before swap)
3) extremely high fuel consumption (15.2L/100km)

Most of the parts were also changed to new OEM parts such as Spark Plugs, Coils, Valvetronic, both Disa Valve, Air Mass Meter, Throttle Body and Fuel Pump +Filter.
For gearbox part, new clutch pad, mechatronic valve was flushed and cleaned.

After some research, I suspect the problem was caused by the 325i software does not really match well with the B30 engine? If thats really the case, I know that there is plenty of 330i software can be found in Bimmerlabs but most of them are 325i/328i 3.0l -> 330i. In my case, I am from 325i 2.5l -> 330i 3.0l, so my question is:

1) I not sure is it okay to run those same file into my DME (MSV80)
2) Most of them are N52B30 + GM gearbox, does different gearbox effect the engine software?
3) Have anyone experience any weird problem like mine that may not cause by engine software?

Btw, my English may not be good, so if there is any weird sentences, I am really sorry abt that.

Welcome Vinboo. The 325 to 330 is for the MSV70 DME it won't flash onto a MSV80. The 328i to 330i is for the MSV80 I believe, that would have a better chance of working. I have a N52B30 MSV70 325i so not sure.

there were plenty of 325 with MSV80 outside of the US and EU.
the TS need to virginize his own MSV80 and code it and CAS and to B30 later
also the gearbox reflash and recoding may require

I think maybe that because you are having a N52B30 in it? I assume that u are having the silver top version on your 325i right?

What if i go to nearby performance shop for a custom tune? Would it be better? Because the current ecu works were not spoiled or burnt, doesn't really feels logical to get another MSV80 just to try it out myself 🤔

Just flash it with one of the Bimmerlabs files above, but make sure you use a quality cable, not some ebay junk.
If you're not confident doing it, get the custom one.

May I know what is the relation between cable and the flashing process? What are the differences between normal vs quality cable as well as what are the effect of it?

Get the Bimmergeeks cable. If you flash with a cheap cable, the chances of bricking the control unit are high. Not worth the risk.

I saw 2 here from BimmerGeeks:

1. Pro
https://www.bimmergeeks.net/product-...eeks-pro-cable

2. Expect
https://www.bimmergeeks.net/product-...dition-k-dcan1

May I know what are the differences and which to get?

The "Pro" cable has been out of stock for a long time, I don't think it will be available anymore.

*Update*

I had successfully flashed the dme to 330i but after I test drive the car, I found out the car turns out to become totally no power during 3.5-7k rpm. No engine fault error but when I diagnosed it, there is a lot of error codes that related to "No message from engine" or "Engine Data Fault".

What could possibly go wrong at this state?

Is that all of the error codes? Have you cleared them and these are the ones that return?

I didnt clear all the code because there are some small little codes such as fan not working and etc. So I only clear those that I never see before and yes, these are the codes that showed after the code had been cleared.

There are also other codes shown from Inpa (Translated from German):
0x2FA3 encoding missing
0x2FA4 Incorrect data record

Have you updated the VO (both locations), and default coded the whole car?

Please post all codes from inpa, and their descriptions.

*Updated on my problem*

After I clear all fault code all at once and re-diagnose the car, the latest problem was about "2fa4 Incorrect Data Record".

I did some research and gotten that the problem was caused by the unmatched powerclass and wert of the DME and CAS. So, I will need to use NSC Expert to manipulate create a file to manipulate the powerclass back the one from my chassis.

The problem is,
1. I need a NSC Expert's function called "Expertmode FSW_PSW Manipulate" which I doesn't have it and don't know where to download this function ( needed the .plf file)
2. I am not sure how to check on what powerclass and wert in my current CAS.

Does anyone knows about that?

I forget how to change the language in inpa, to be honest. I'm sure it'll be documented somewhere.

Have you updated the VO and default coded all modules?

VO is the Vehicle Order. It's a list of all options on the car. It's stored in the CAS and FRM. You use NCS Expert to load it from either location, then edit the options, then save it back to both locations, then default code to propagate those settings to all other modules. https://g42.bimmerpost.com/forums/sh....php?t=1893721

So you need to set the new engine type in the VO in CAS and FRM, then default code the car so that all other modules are updated accordingly. That should solve your immediate issues with the DME.
