Just completed this upgrade the other week. Absolutely thrilled with the outcome. When the brass fittings are flush, it looks sweet!

I had one stripped hole by the windshield, and this cheap fix worked:

Injected loctite epoxy with oral syringe,
squeegied off excess with card,
let cure >24h,
drilled with 7/64" bit (masked for screw depth),
vaccumed dust,
ratcheted screw in "screwdriver tight".

I did mine too but with a little another approach.
I used thread rivets M6. Basically, the procedure is the same, drill hole(corresponding to your threaded rivet) and install the rivet in a conventional way, using less pressing force, because it's a plastic panel. I have used a rivet with a big flange because I was afraid of the rivet not holding torque enough during service, for the same reason I don't use inserts and glue, don't think it's a solution to last.
The only disadvantage of this solution is the flange of the rivet raises a little the whole filter cover and seal on the filter is not touching properly, it's hardly touching. I have added an additional little foamed rubber o-ring rope( I had it on hand ) under the original silicone (white) seal to raise it. You can do the same or throw away the original seal and buy a new one from aliexpress, foam silicon seal 5x5mm and you will be fine.
Each air filter hole consumes about 60cm of the seal, so buy at least 2m.
