BMW Air Duct Without Air Mass Meter bent AGAIN!

My pipe that connects the intake to the turbo inlet was bent a while ago from over-tightening. I ordered a new one from FCP Euro and installed it last month. Today while performing some work on that side of the engine that required the removal of that pipe, I was horrified to see that it had a large bend on the underside of the pipe:Name: 20241118_143947.jpg

I made sure when installing it to not over-tighten it but it seems like that pipe still couldn't handle it. The pipe was literally brand new and I had only tightened it down once. Do you think the part was defective or am I just being too aggressive when tightening it? The bend was on the underside of the pipe. I am currently using 3m tape to try and seal the pipe the best I can. I contacted FCP Euro about the issue and if they insist that I am over-tightening it and that it is not the parts issue then I will have to return the item for the Lifetime Replacement warranty. Thank God for that. Any other E90 N55 owners experiencing this?

FCP Euro said I could submit a warranty return so that is what I did. I guess I'll just have to make sure to hardly tighten the bolt when installing it this time. BMW and their plastic I swear...

Next time, soak in hot water to soften plastic, and see if you can get it back to original shape.

Hm. I still have the pipe. I think I might cancel the FCP order and try this.

It works really well. I soaked it in hot water, got some pliers, and bent it back the best I could. I watched a movie while doing it so it made time go by quicker lol. While it is not perfect, I think it is sealy for the most part. I plan on taking it off again at some point and doing it again to get it back the rest of the way. Glad I found this out because I really didn't want to pay to have it shipped back. Thanks a million!
