Bad oil level sensor - How do I know if i actually need oil?

Yeah basically title. I suspect i have a bad oil level sensor because whenever i check my oil level it will give me some reading significantly different from the previous one. One time i checked it, and it said my oil was filled to the max line, then 2 days later i check it and it’s saying i’m close to needing to add a quart of oil, then i check it again 2 days after that and it says i have a perfect level again. All of the readings were taken on level ground. Anyways today i got to school and i got an oil level low warning. How can i tell if my engine actually needs oil? I don’t want to be dumping oil into an engine that’s already filled to the max with oil. 2011 328i N51

i prefer to change the oil sensor, i believe that there's no way to know what is your oil level until you change it , you don't want to loss your Engen because of sensor, if your changing your oil every 5k or 10k that's will be okay but let say you have a small leak from where you will know

Reading the link below may help gain a better understanding of how the oil sensor works. The level reading is based on electrolytic properties of the oil. Moisture content can affect the oil level reading measurement. If the oil hasn't reached a temperature point where all the moisture has vaporized it can give conflicting readings as you have experienced. Yet, if the CBS reports "+1qt" it does need one quart of oil and no more than one quart. The sensor is designed that once it can't detect an oil level below the minimum it triggers the +1qt notification.

A manual transmission can be set to "comfort", "sport", and "track" modes simply by the technique and speed at which you shift it; it doesn't need "modes", modes are for manumatics that try to behave like a real 3-pedal manual transmission. If you can money-shift it, it's a manual transmission. "Yeah, but NO ONE puts an automatic trans shift knob on a manual transmission."
