Need help with a leek

Not too long ago I noticed this vibration that felt like a bad axel, come to find out the boot is torn which is not necessarily the reason for the vibration. I was looking to replace that front passenger side axel and I noticed there is a leak coming from the front and back of the drive train. The front leak apers to be an oil level senser seal that needs to be replaced but I have yet to discover where the leak in the back is coming from. Any Ideas? And I was also wondering if anyone know if this oil sensor if for the transmission or if it is for the engine... The car is a 335 xi 2010 N54. If anyone know what I'm talking about or if anyone know even what the name of this transmission is it would be a lot of help

I can appreciate that you are trying to learn and addressing the oil leaks DIY. Your question is a bit all over so I'll try to answer in a general, helpful way. Assuming an automatic, the transmission pan is black plastic and sits behind (rearward) the oil pan. The level sensor you reference is for engine oil level. Oil leaks are expected at this age N54. Common are the oil pan gasket itself, valve cover gasket and the oil filter/oil cooler housing gaskets. I don't believe rear main seal leaks are common but not unheard of. You have an xi making extra work for the oil pan gasket replacement.https://www.realoem.com the place to go for part diagrams and part numbers for your BMW. YouTube is amazing for DIY everything. Here is a good start for the N54 basics: https://www.fcpeuro.com/blog/the-def...bmw-n54-engine

Keep learning and have fun.
