Fighting a 2D2E DME: Throttle-valve angle-intake-manifold vacuum, correlation.
The symptoms are really very small but cause CEL every few days after cleared and reset adaptations. If I reset adaptations with MHD it comes back by end of day, if I reset adaptations with INPA it takes a couple days for it to come back. Code is thrown both on MHD 2+ (been running this tune for almost 2 years) or completely tuned back to stock DME. Throttle will randomly bounce between 7% - 10% when cruising in almost any gear Pedal input stays constant. Sometimes it does it sometimes it doesn't. I have also seen it bounce at lower percentage. I feel like it happens when starting from a stop on initial pedal input there seems to be a delay in throttle opening. AFR jump at the same time from maybe 13ish to 14 or 15 when the throttle jumps. (I will post a log when I can) Again it is really small happens for a split second then falls back, hardly audible and the revs hardly move. No issues at idle and no issues when throttle is 12% or above. All vacuum lines were replaced, Spark plugs, coils within the last 6 months, index 11 or 12 injectors I can't remember they were replaced about 1.5 ago. I took the entire throttle body out and cleaned every inch, as well as the chargepipe sensor and intake manifold sensor. No change. I am having a hardtime deciding if I should be chasing sensors, hardware, or software to fix this. All searches come back with Tune tables needing to be adjusted but I have been running MHD same tune for quit awhile without issue. Thoughts?

CEL came back today 2d2e code only no other shadow codes or active codes. Still looking for guidance. Cleared and stayed off for my 70 mile commute.
symptoms I had a few days ago really haven't been there lately but CEL still came back.

data log below, last 2 days I haven't felt it as much but CEL still comes back every couple days. It seems to be happening most often when tipping into the pedal.
https://datazap.me/u/james008/jumpy-throttle Could rear O2 sensors cause an issue? I feel like the list is so long I am not sure where to start.

So far it is fixed. had a torn blow off valve diaphragm and a crack in the downpipe right at the v-band prior to the O2 sensors. So far so good.

Code is back still not finding a lot in search. I am going to reflash newer tune and hope it's something in the mapping causing it. Anyone out there with some feedback?

Have you tried replacing your throttle body? The sensor is part of the actual throttle body so you have to replace the full part. I just started throwing this code and cannot drive the car without the CEL. I am getting 2d2e and 2abd (intake pressure sensor, rerunning). If I clear the codes and try to drive, I get very fluctuating throttle at low rpm. If I add any decent load the car shuts down and I have to turn the ignition off and restart the car. When it comes back on I get the CEL and I can actually drive it normally without any fluctuations in my rpms. I'm just trying to narrow down my problem. Before this I was getting boost fluctuations when I would go WOT from about 3k. In my logs boost is way below target and my WGDC skyrockets at the beginning and then once I get to about 5-5.5k rpm boost surpasses my target and WGDC drops back down. It could be the TB sensor but then again shouldn't I still be getting fluctuations with my CEL light on? I'm running JB4 with PUMP BEF (latest release), 3.5 BAR sensor, mmp turbos. I have reset adaptations, and made sure menu 10,11,12 on JB4 is within the default range. The only other thing I can think of would be my wastegates. Maybe being stuck or the actuator rod not within spec. Any thoughts on this? Any help is greatly appreciated

So I wanted to update in case anyone else is having symptoms such as mine. Today I decided to reset everything for the most part as I suspected the issue was settings related. First, I reflashed my JB4 BEF PUMP map using MHD and verified all the settings under the options tab in MHD were correctly selected/deselected. I then cycled the ignition and opened up ProTool and connected to it. From here I reset all adaptations. I then started the car and the rpms were fluctuating like crazy and it was running really rough. Definitely not happy. It made me worry, but luckily I remembered reading the same thing happened to a couple other members on the forum and all they did was reset adaptations again and the car returned to normal. So that is what I did, reset adaptations again. Before starting it though I decided to check out my JB4 user settings mainly because I'm running a 3.5 bar TMAP and wanted to verify the box was correctly filled. In fact, all my settings were completely out of whack. I found the default JB4 user setting on the forum posted by Terry and plugged the values in and hit save. After starting it this time it was very smooth and purred nicely at idle. I have only driven a few miles on it in Map 0, but so far my issues and codes are gone. It is nice and smooth at low rpm and throttle input. No problems at WOT either. I will update after I do some more driving and testing of other maps. If you are having these issues (I had 2d2e and 2abd) I would consider an adaptation, map, and settings reset.

Code is coming back daily again. Stayed off for a few months. I am going to try reflashing same map again and see how that goes.
Symptoms: -from stand still light throttle starts smooth and then seems to accelerate on it's own without additional throttle. -seems to have slight throttle fluctuation at highway speeds again under light throttle. no problems full throttle, just seems like my foot and the throttle aren't matching up.

Did that first thing.....obviously no help.
Its UNREAL that on the entire interwbs not ONE SINGLE person, and (probable not even BMW) knows how to correct this fault (2D2E) The response is basiclly, take the car, from the steering wheel forward, apart, and put it all back together like you're on a farkin assembly like, making sure each connect is to spec, THEN you will fix you issue. 3 F9kin months now and not one single fix!!!!!!!!

I’m a little late to reply to this. If you have high flow silicon inlets & CAI it causes this issue. Took me 2 years to figure out. I emailed JB4/BMS they said this. “The 2D2E is a false alarm code that just means that boost is higher at part throttle, which is what we want anyway with tuning. You can lower menu 12 on the JB4 steering wheel controls to lower response and also reduce chance for this fault”
What I did was lower my menu 10 to 3100 rpm & my menu 12 to 2500rpm. When you change menu 12 it will affect a setting in your custom settings. It will eventually creep back up & start oscillating again(did not give me a code though) I just reset it back to 2500. These are the numbers that BMS recommended using. The oddest but good thing that happened is I picked up improved MPG’s. On the 30 mile drive into town with cc set at 70 I always got 29mpg. Now I get 33. On the drive back (always a headwind) driving the same speed I would get 26mpg. Now it’s 29mpg. If I put my foot in it it’s irrelevant. With MHD I just discovered that they have a fix as well I think it was under throttle oscillation when I chose flash to stock but kept MHD. Hope this info helps someone. |

Same I am getting the same code only on cold starts in the mornings.
Started happening all of a sudden. I have changed tmap sensor to 3.5 bar with mhd stage 2+ and made sure to select 3.5 bar option. I have just replaced throttle body today and same s!$t. I’m about to sell this car |
