good afternoon group....I recently did my e90s mechatronics service due to the 4f81 error code fault issue and as suspected the rectangular seal between the transmission and mechatronic valve body was damaged as you can see in photo...well anyways followed the guide putting everything back in place and I'm stuck on the part where I need to reconnect the wire harness to the mechatronics connector and lock by twisting the connector harness collar clockwise....the sealing sleeve is properly installed as I'm able to lock the white tab on mechatronics unit upwards locking sleeve in place...i attached phtos of sleeve orientation to show its looks same ....now when I insert connector I can get in straight and inwards a bit and when i try to turn ring collar to lock it doesn't want to turn..even when I have connector out isn't the ring collar supposed to twist freely or have some play? I'm trying to avoid any added force as I really don't want to damage anything especially the pins....

It's been a couple years since I did it, but the bmwrepairguide.com instructions I followed state, "13. Reach up and behind the transmission and install the new electrical connection sleeve. Turn it slowly until the tab on the sleeve lines up with the notch in the electronics module. Push the sleeve in as far as it will go and close the locking mechanism. If the locking mechanism will not close, then the sleeve is not seated properly in the valve body. Try reaching up and tilting it up and down until the locking mechanism closes. 14. Install the electrical plug back onto the sleeve. Turn the locking ring clockwise until it is snug."

When I did it a few months ago I recall the collar on the mechatronics wire harness being completely free and able to be slid back from the connector. Does it look dirty and gritty? You could spray some electronics safe solvent on it to loosen it up if it’s dorty
