If U're looking for a thread about the injectors, here it is:
http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=67831 I have no idea how would U replace the GDI type piezo injectors in this engine, or by what would U replace them. Pls educate me. |

Exactly. This is what I was wondering about myself. Im always finding myself pouring over diesel performance mags and such (boss has a ram 3500 that had a Banks 6-Gun on it at one point)...maybe there is a way to keep the pump lubricated with a similar chemical that can be instituted into the pump, and not have to be put into the gas tank at every fill up...because gasoline seems to eat away at everything it touches, so trying to have a slippery or lubed up pump is going to be I think the hardest hurdle to overcome.

I'm hoping joking given the discussion of using diesel parts.
I found this drawing of the injector system on the VDO website: http://usa.siemensvdo.com/press/rele...20070110_e.htm Click the download high res image on the right side of the page. They look similar in design to diesel injectors. Obviously there are a few critical dimension that would have to be the same since it goes directly into the combustion chamber and nobody wants fuel/fire blowing past it into the engine bay. It's not going to be as easy as new fuel rail and a walboro anymore. Last edited by hotrod2448; 07-01-2007 at 09:49 PM.. |

I really dont know if its based on something or not after reading that, but if anyone knows its them considering the amount of time they've been with the car.....well and of course BMW.

haha.... good luck to anyone that tries this..... i'd like to see how long the N54's aluminum block lasts..... the engine isn't cast iron, supra numbers just aren't gonna be possible with this car. still GL to anyone who decides to get it.

I think 450-500hp will be ok. Over that and you're probably right, the engine isnt cast iron. I'm sure someone will eventually try those big numbers

agreed 450-500hp eqauls pooping in my pants on freeway onramps. plus i just have to throw this out there; BMW engineers arent stupid, the N54 is pretty well rounded, there is plenty to do before taking such a huge step as replacing the turbos. "evo8" has a good point, solve the fuel problems and then think about making hp. there is plenty of tweaking and tuning to do before replacing turbos.

Don't forget It's all ball bearings nowadays. Now you prepare that Fetzer valve with some 3-in-1 oil and some gauze pads. And you're gonna need 'bout ten quarts of anti-freeze, preferably Prestone. No, no make that Quaker State. |

Aluminium block is not as strong as cast iron, but the block is not going to be an issue for a long long time. It has cast iron sleeves and I would be amazed if the block could not handle at least 700hp. Much more than what I'm after myself.

450HP and 500HP on the 335i should give 7.9:1 and 7.1:1. Lower than 7:1 starts feeling like a motorcycle - fun and addicting. For reference: G37 11.2:1 Audi S4 B7 11.2:1 335i 10.9:1 Porsche Cayman S 10:1 Mitsubishi Evo IX 10:1 135i 9.8:1 Z4M 9.8:1 Audi RS4 B7 8.6:1 Mustang GT500 7.8:1 Ferrari 360 7.2:1 Audi RS4 SC clubsport 6.8:1 Corvette Z06 6.2:1 |
