between pss9 and KW V2. but pss9 are priced really good...$1230 + shipping vs $1450 shipped for V2. Are these the best prices?

When it comes to suspension do it once and do it right. Go KW or go home

Couldn't agree more with this post, as far as coils are concerned, KW is the way to go.

If you are looking for advice on how to set up your suspension, this forum is not the best place to look. You will get vendors with a vested interest in selling one product or another, and brand name fan boys that raise their self esteem by promoting whatever it is that they have on their cars. And the occasional rare bit of paid marketers.

Remember that BMW has the best suspension engineers in the world. Why would the opinion of an amateur be better?

First thing is to assess what your priorities are. For many here, it is just the "looks" of a lowered car. I am assuming that if you intend to run your car on a race track once and a while that is not your cup of tea.

If you are serious about race handling, one of the best things to do is run your car stock on the tracks that you are likely to frequent. Assess what the weaknesses are. Talk, talk, talk to other racers and get their advice. BMWCCA events are a great investment. The best and first investment in better handling is to mod the driver's brain with track experience and instruction.

There are different systems for different applications. Any real racing/autocrossing/rallye will require a system with camber adjusters.

My advice is to research a bit, look at what the serious tuners like Turner MS and Hotchkis are doing, see if you can get advice from them.

Whatever you do, I would strongly recommend that you get a tuned system. Do not go changing parts piecemeal. Spring rates are set to work with specific damper specs, sway bars, etc.

If you want a very street friendly set up then BMW performance will likely be the best choice. If you want an autocross/street set up then Hotchkis sways, Bilstein PSS10s, and camber plates would be a good option. Imitating the Dinan set-up by buying the parts yourself is an excellent low cost solution.

If you have a large budget, an LSD is another key component.

Good luck and please write a review of whatever you end up doing.

Seems like lots of people like the KW coilovers, me included. Don't think I've seen anybody that really didn't like them.

I think that is generally true, for those that were installed properly, and without initial defects. But the same is true for Bilsteins and several other brands.

That said, seat-of-the-pants testing is not how BMW engineers suspensions. To be fair, it's not how Bilstein, KW, TCKline etc. engineer their coilovers either, but it is much more difficult for them to put the work into designing hundreds of different coilovers to suit each car.

I would be much more comfortable with a simple coilover solution if that is what Alpina, ACS, Dinan, TMS, Hotchkis, and the other tuners found worked best in their testing.

IMO the most amazing deal, if it is real, is to put the BMW performance package on to a standard (non-ZSP) E9x. For $695 that is one great bargain. I just wish BMW performance would get its act together for a broader range of applications, and release info as to exactly what parts are involved.
