I am new to this forum and hoping someone can help me. My Wife got stuck yesterday at the shops. A red steering light with a lock appeared on the dashboard, and the car would not start. I have read that it could be the ELV counter that needs to be reset. We had a mechanic friend plug in his diagnostic tools, he cleared errors but still not start.

Is there any way or hack to reset this ELV or the ECU?

I am in Brackenfell Cape Town and would appreciate all help, please.

you need to charge battery
you've driven a lot with yellow steering lock and ignored error
now you have to pay for that

not only, you will have to pay for towing if your steering wheel will lock on the road somewhere
sorry that it may sound bit unpleasant, but bmw car tried to tell you that it had problem when it was possible to fix it in advance
