Metal Tapping Noise coming from car
Recently I started to get a metal tapping sound coming from the front/middle of the car only when the car is stopped with no gas applied. I would like to say as well, I do get a similar sound on start up but it stops after the car gets down to idle. I am guessing it could be a faulting exhaust clamp on my Eisenmann exhaust (it’s been like this for a year). However, the tapping sound happens on random. If I tap the pedal or add petal the noise will stop. It does it in neutral, drive, reverse, and park. I can’t say if the noise stops or is less frequent when the car is at operating oil temperature. If anyone has any ideas let me know!

I'll be honest I didn't watch the video but I did have the same symptoms. What happened to me was the motor mount bolts failed (1 walked out and 1 snaped) causing my engine to sag and ultimately caused my passenger cv axle to come apart.
Would recommend getting the car on a lift and taking a look underneath. Avoid driving if you can till then. |
