The lcd display on my '06 325i has become unreadable. If I buy a used cluster off ebay can I just swap the lcds displays without having to do any eeprom reading/writing or coding? Thanks

Yes, you can swap displays. The EEPROM has nothing to do with the display so you will be fine.

You surely can. If you would like to try an aftermarket digital cluster instead, the only odd thing for me is getting a no KOMBI error code on Carly and not present on ISTA control tree.

Sorry to hijack but I recently just did the same thing but now my cluster only lights up orange and doesn’t display anything, I am puzzled about what is happening.

You probably used a screen from a newer cluster. It looks like your cluster is from a 2006 car and you need a replacement screen from a older cluster. They all fit the same but they're not forwards and backwards compatible.

06, 07, 08 will work. Chassis doesn't matter. I have a box of them if you just want a replacement LCD screen, cheaper than buying another cluster.
