I found a nest on the engine bay and realized a mouse had eaten a wire of the MAP sensor wiring right at the base of the connector. I am wondering if I can buy an engine wiring harness from Ebay and cut the wiring connector so that I can splice the wires with crimp butt connectors. Any help on this DIY would be appreciated. 2009 335I

Clean off the insulation on the stub. Scraping it sideways with a razor blade will do it, and will also clean off the copper so it will take solder. Cut the end of the wire (Assuming it will still reach) to get a nice bare flat end.
Put a weight or clamp or something on there to hold the two ends together. Use a high wattage soldering iron with rosin core solder. Work fast. Now your best friend is liquid electrical tape, a couple coats covering the solder point and going back along the part of the wire that looks munched. |
