E90 N52B25 - Misfire Cyl #3

So I picked up a beautiful 2006 323i with low kms (170k) for a good deal, since it had a known issue with cylinder 3 misfire. Thinking nothing of it and that I could sort it out for a few hundred bucks I jumped on it....

Man was I wrong!!!!

So after noticing that the plug had zero combustion, the troubleshooting began. Swapping coils, plugs, injectors. Nothing changed and the problem stayed at hole 3.

What’s next? Compression test 👀

Well that’s NFG…. Hopeful for maybe a broken spring, I pulled the valve cover and to my dismay there was so much varnish and sludge. No broken spring and all the valve train was intact. Scoring on every lobe.

Well now we are getting serious, time to make the call for a junk yard motor????
