Mickey Mouse Flange, OFHG, or possible failing head gasket??

Just took a look in my engine bay and noticed a fluid beginning to weep from the front of my engine, the engine is hot so I haven’t touched the fluid to try and see what I think it is but I can’t seem to tell if it looks like it’s coming from the Mickey Mouse flange ( just replaced with brand new from BMW roughly a month ago only has about 600 miles on it ) or the oil filter housing. There is however quite a bit of this mystery fluid that appears to be coming from around where the cylinder head meets the block 😬. Although there is quite bit of oil gunk on my alternator so I’m hoping that it’s just the oil filter housing gasket. Planning on replacing with an f30 n20 OFH as I’m pretty sure I’ve heard of people doing that swap for the small oil cooler that’s built into it.

Here are some photos, any opinions on what it could be???

Almost 100% that it's the OFH Gasket. Typically the oil will run down the side of the head a little then down the front of the block. Replacing it with the OFH with the oil cooler is a simple swap, and even though you mention recently replacing the mickey mouse flange with a new item from BMW, going with one of the aluminum versions is a good idea.

I bought an aluminum one and when I got the new hose from bmw ( old one was damaged ) the new hose came with the Mickey Mouse attached to it so it just installed it as is. I should probably find a tutorial on how to fit them together but I just haven’t had time as of lately :/ too many projects at once

Oh I hear you. It's brand new so of course you should be fine for quite a while. As for attaching a new hose to an aluminum MM Flange, you just have to "very carefully" cut the metal band on the hose + plastic one and just use a hose clamp to attach it to the aluminum one.

Also check for a broken head bolt under the intake manifold, near the OFH. It will cause the head gasket to leak and allow oil to come up through the bolt hole.
