For posterity: I have a 2006 e91 w/ 90K miles and the (non-comfort access) key worked for ignition, but the remote key function wasn't working for lock/unlock. The wiring bundle in the flex conduit of the hatch (which is typically the culprit) was tired looking, but not the cause in my instance.

Ultimately, the replacement of the antenna diversity module (same part) from an e70 resolved it for $50 (eBay) and 30min of DIY labor.

Hey! I might have the same issue on my e91

So the e70 antenna diversity module is the same? It is way cheaper. Do you have a part# so I buy the correct one that worked for you?

Sorry, I didn’t take a pic of it, or jot down the part #. It was a $60 gamble I took from a part-out specialist on eBay. Installation was true PnP and only took about 25min. Search “e70 diversity module” and it should look identical to the one you’re replacing.

Just did this fix on my newly acquired e91. Bought the car but the key didnt work nor did the comfort access. Read this thread a watch a YouTube vid on how to check the voltage. Bought a used e70 antenna and installed it, now everythin works.

I'm having trouble popping the rubber covers off. I got the 3 in the middle off, but can't get leverage to get the two on the sides (covering the torx screws) off. Any tips?
