Decided to take it to self bay auto wash. I used the soap/powerwash setting to hose the car down. I finally saw the Jet Black color of my E90. It was raining so I didn’t have to wipe down. I just wanted to get all the road salt off.

Wrapped up the valve cover with fixing broken bolt, and oil changes (DT-40 and DP-40) on the e92 (+ new coolant reservoir w cap, new PS cap, new plugs, wipers all new filters) and the Diesel! Set for a while… have a good week guys ! Cheers and to me something very satisfying to do oil changes and knowing oil is fresh!

Pouring the oil in with a pint glass isn't the most efficient way!

Cheers :-) !!!

So today I just drove the 335d. 100 mile round trip to the office and back.

It'll be 3 weeks tomorrow since I picked it up.

I've had enough time now to know for sure this is my favorite car to drive so far.

I've owned many cars in my 39 years of driving. This one just hits all the right buttons.

I have decided to move forward with the CIC retrofit and I have a screen on the way and purchased the harness as well off an ebay vendor that puts everything you need together in a package. Enet cable will be here today from Amazon too. It's all coming along, combox will be next in line to purchase and the e90 should be set audio-wise. I don't really abuse the speakers so I'm hoping that will provide longevity. I'm excited to hear the added quality of CIC system in my Logic 7 car. I've heard great experiences with it.

It's awesome to hear that, what makes it most enjoyable to you? I feel like this platform is a bit underrated and always like to hear other peoples experiences.

I got the High Battery Discharge warning last night as I was going out, it looks like my two year battery got an extra year of life. I just ordered an H8 online and hope to get four years out of it. The previous H8 lasted for five years but I lived a few hundred miles south from Nashville, warmer climate effect? We have bad weather approaching so I’ll pick it up when I receive the email that it’s ready for pickup.

Update: The H8 didn't fit, the positive terminal on the harness didn't line up so I went with another Duralast H6 which has a 3 year warranty.

On the upside, I work in a wholesaler/Engineers, managed to find a Time Sert kit with M5 10mm inserts in the workshop!

Scouted time serts online... *&%$ me they're expensive for the kit. Glad I'm not being asked to replace them

Going to get some flanged bolts similar to the ones wren57 is selling, but on this side of the pond, with some M5 washers just in case to spread the load on the actual cover.

Will try to remember to take pics.

In the mean time, found some expanding rivet type plastic plugs to shove into the holes for the self tappers to eat up to stop them falling out.

Vanos solenoids changed! Old ones were the originals with 100K on them.

Ended up accidentally ordering 1 Pierburg unit. Got an OE one from BMW for $200. So the car now has 1 of each. Will be an interesting experiment…

I didn’t notice any audio quality diff CCC to CiC except aux in was worse on CiC. (Before combox conversion)

But actually having my entire side of town exist in the nav, plus HDD music and combox was worth it. Don't buy a combox adapter cable, buy a combox with chopped cables and just repin your TCU into it.

The long and short of it.(Really just the long of it)

I originally picked up a sad 06' 325i for my sons 1st car.
It was cheap and had many issues, hence the price.

The CCC didn't work. Valve cover gasket leak, Wheel sensor issue (Manifested as total DSC failure). Not charging. Drivers door lock actuator was bad. couldn't open door from inside. Oil filter housing gasket leak.

In the process of getting the car reliable and safe for him to drive it became obvious how interesting this chassis was. We got everything important fixed and he started driving it daily. Was a good reliable car for a kid.

Then I decided to upgrade to a CIC instead of going aftermarket for the entertainment system. Never did get the firmware updated so no nav but everything else works. Didn't go so far as a combox either.

Then we tackled the entire front suspension and oil pan gasket as well as the driveshaft. Car drove really well after all that. It is still running and driving great.

When he turned 18 he was jonesing for my Mustang so I gave it to him and have been driving the 325 for the past year. I just never could get along with the absence of torque from the N52. Lots of rolling hills here and the constant downshifting gets annoying to me. (I have 2 diesel trucks as well)

So the 335d came about due to me really liking this chassis, but wanting a torque laden diesel in it.

Also the standard suspension is too soft for my liking. It's actually great on really bad roads but I prefer a stiffer ride.

I got lucky and found a really clean 335d, low miles, with a nice list of options including the sport suspension and seats. Effectively ZPP and ZSP.

So I acquired new 335d, and 325i is sold, will be picked up this weekend.

The last BMW (Car) I owned before the e90 was an e28 87' 535is. It was Turboed, suspended, staggered Hartge wheel set, and had the brakes from a 750 on it. I had played with it for years and eventually let it go to fund my RC51 in 2011.

I still maintain the e28 had the best steering feel of any car I've driven.

But the e90 just feels so solid and smooth overall. Plus it'll handle the twisty roads around here just fine. It is a better drivers car.

Hmm, I'm at 105k and I don't believe mine have been replaced. Is this something that is done preventably or only if an issue occurs?

I LOVE the intake/reservoir flips... reducing those 10ft of ducting/tubing is amazing! BMW should have designed it like this from the start!

I got a VANOS code for the intake side. Before that, the car was throwing intake leak codes even though a smoke test showed there were no leaks. My N54 had over 150K on the original solenoids. So I’d just replace them if/when they fail.
