2015 M135i F20 LCI battery discharging when stationary
Hello all,
So I’ve been tackling an issue for a few weeks now regarding an error I get when starting my car. “Battery discharging when stationary”. A few weeks ago my battery was completely flat after not using it for a day or two in the cold icy weather. I replaced the battery, coded & registered it as instructed. However, I noticed that almost right away I was getting the same error message with the newly installed battery. I am aware that the first thing to do with this is to test for a parasitic draw. I’ve done this myself and have also had a garage do it to, but there is NO parasitic draw whatsoever. I have no additional equipment, such as dash cams etc. The only thing I do have is an apple Car Play unit & the instrument cluster from a M140i/LCI2. Neither of these are the issue as I have unplugged both and the error still returns. Today I have removed all of the fuses, from the fuse box under the bonnet, that control the headlights. It might be worth noting that I recently changed my headlight units due to a condensation issue I was having and opted to buy new ones from Ali Express. The Units I replaced my adaptive headlights with are just standard BMW LED, not Adaptive. I had the Adaptive Headlight feature coded out to prevent the error message from appearing on my dash, but no other coding was done. I plugged the new headlight units in and used the old control modules from my old headlights. Is it possible that because I haven’t coded in the modules to the new headlights, that the light control modules could be causing the drain? I am on the verge of a mental breakdown trying to resolve this issue and I do not have the money to be taking it in to BMW for them to charge me an arm and a leg just to investigate, never mind fix. Is this something anyone else has ever encountered? All advice/thoughts/guidance is welcome! |
