I will get it up on the lift soon and look over all the shocks/struts, bushings etc.

For what it's worth. The suspension doesn't feel loose at all, just the shocks seemingly lacking in rebound damping.

Good place to start so thanks for the input.

Well, for $18 you can't go wrong I suppose.

Being an pre-LCI guy, who has always had the hood pad, I wonder what difference you notice with it versus without it.

ran a razor blade through dashboard

I've cut a hole in my dashboard to retrofit this part 51457141721 from this post

Had to drop it when I reached plastic for today, but will continue tomorrow and will make a retrofit post eventually. This'll be my first post (After this reply) so any tips appreciated!

In the end it should look soimething like this (took this photo from other post here)

First off, for DirtLeg, I have to hand it to you for riding on 10 year old tires. Generally not a good idea, so I'm glad that you're over that now. :-)

As for the rear shocks, they're incredibly easy particularly since you have a sedan (vs. wagon). I recently did mine and after going through the originals and 2 sets of Koni yellow adjustables, I went with the $75/each Bilstein OE replacements (from FCP) and couldn't be happier. My objective is to just drive around and not hear clunking noises from the rear end, and these do the trick. Add a $15 lower mount to each side and you definitely come in well under $300 for the job. If you have 89K on your car and the shocks have never been changed, just do it...you will thank yourself hugely (just like getting rid of those 10 year old tires).

Now, as for the "3 hour part", that may be a good average if you live somewhere other than Southern California or Florida. It could be 20 minutes (if you live in Southern California or Florida), or it could be 3 days if you live in the salt-belt like I do. With the proper tools and having done it 3 times, I have it down to about 45 minutes. YMMV in Virginia.

Do yourself a favor, definitely buy the lower mounts AND new lower mount to lower control arm bolts (those bolts are stupid expensive for bolts) AND the proper E12 (I think that's right) socket for your impact tool. That way you can remove the lower mounts with the shock attached in the (likely) event that you cannot remove the lower shock bolt. Buying the lower mount bolts is just insurance against having screwed up the bolts too in the removal process. I've had to cut them off sometimes in the past. Rust sucks.

If you have all of that, you'll get it done and driveable in under an hour.

I’m pre LCI also, but mine is starting to fall around the edges due to shrinkage. The tabs don’t lock into the hood slots anymore. Figure I’ll try it and see how ot is.

Finally had a chance to bring the RWD out of hibernation from the winter. I didn't realize how much I missed the RWD, Sport Suspension and Seats - Just...Wow.

xDrive was an absolute beast and total pleasure in the snow (maybe one day they'll repair the roads so I don't have to constantly scan for road craters), so: New drive belt, tensioner, idler pulley (shot), spark plugs (NGK), Delphi Coils (from FCP, manufactured in Portugal), full Leatherique treatment (3 day treatment), Road salt de-con and a lot of other minor bits. Also working on side mirror whistle wind noise that has been driving me crazy on the LCI, if it works, I'll post a follow-up.

@jsunma, what you got against old tires?

Yeah I probably should have checked their date stamps as soon as I bought the car. But that didn't happen.

Thankfully no one got did.

Please do! I've read this being an issue... kiddo has the LCI 500 miles away, so I can't confirm if it's a problem or not.
