I will be picking up my baby in a few weeks, and would like to request from those that know what type of options can be programmed for the vehicle and the key fob?

From what I've read, you can choose to have the DRL on/off, and set the key fob to do or not do a variety of things. Is there any type of master list that exists in regards to this? I know that a lot of people have problems when they try to go back to the dealer to have them do something that should've been taken care of before drive off. Maybe one of the guru's can make a list of all the configurations that can be changed before delivery? TIA...love the forum. :rocks:

HappyG: All personal settings are done through i-drive (if equipped) or the OBC on board computer stalk. The e90s have personal profile settings that you can do youself (compare with the e46s). Particualrly, post-sept cars, you can customize DRLs, auto-locks, lock/unlock confirmation, driveway lighting etc anytime, anywhere. All the settings you select are saved on the keyfob you have inserted at the time along with hvac and audio settings as well as seats and mirror settings (if equipped).

Do you have iDrive coming? KL is right, you can do everything yourself with it. As said in many other threads, the iDrive is so much more than NAV, in fact, for me anyway, the NAV is only about 50% of the 'greatness' of it.

See if you can find a manual online to see all the options. I think the dealer will do it before delievery.

Thanks guys. I do not have the iDrive feature/Navigation. Can this be done manually through the OBC, or am I limited to having the dealer perform these setups?

I've requested my dealer to email me a copy of ALL of the options that I can set/change on the car and key fob, but knew that someone on this forum could give me more detail. Thanks again and keep'em coming!

After reading more carefully, it seems that my questions have been answered. DUH...lol. Are there any other "secret" things that only the dealer can do? I know I read something somewhere, but can't remember where and when. Great help eh? hehehe.

Possible 'secret thing'...well your car will have the latest software so you're pretty much set e.g. MP3 capabilities, full access to personal profiles setting like DRLs etc.

Also, I think you maybe giving your dealer too much credit. It is my belief that the members here know far more than your average CA might know

KL2DC- That's what I was saying...although my CA at the dealership is a gearhead who's professionaly raced in Sebring and Daytona...

Since mine is Pre Sept build, some of those options cant be programmed on the OBC. I do not have DRL's on, so I really don't know what else I could program.

The average CA may not be up on all of the idiosyncracies of the one model because he/she needs to know quite a bit about several different series' and each of their variances. Certainly the exceptional CA would know more and would be able to spew forth more than what the customer could and should be able to read for themselves in the brochure. That said, the brochure is a tiny window into the features of the vehicle and expounds on a lot of features that not everyone is interested.

The customer / owner should know more about their car. There IS the owner's manual. An afternoon of playing with the car in the driveway goes a long way towards teaching the owner what the car can and can not do.
