need help unlocking cell phone

i was wondering if anyone in nnj knows how to unlock a motorola razr v3 to work on t-mobile. the phone was purchased through cingular and im trying to give it to someone who has t-mobile. any help would be greatly appreciated.

best bet is to just call TMobile and be like im going to a foreign country and need it to work with another carriers SIM.

That wont work if he purchased it on Cingular. However, if its still registered under Cingular, then it can be unlocked through them doing the same thing. That being said, a lot of the RAZR's came unlocked without people knowing.
